Question. . .
Can you hear the call?
From God's word. . .
Luke 9:1-6 Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and
authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. He sent them to preach the kingdom
of God and to heal the sick. And He said to them, "Take nothing for the journey,
neither staffs nor bag nor bread nor money; and do not have two tunics a piece.
"Whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart. And whoever will not
receive you, when you go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet as a
testimony against them." So they departed and went through the towns, preaching the
gospel and healing everywhere.
Think. . .
Are you so busy accumulating "stuff" for the journey that you fail to hear the boarding
call? We are all busy at our jobs and with our families or friends; face it, today life is
busy. The key here is balance and contentment. We all strive to maintain a balance
between work, family and time with God, however, how many of us get caught in the
trap of wanting more and more material things. Hebrews 13:5 Let your conduct be
without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has
said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."Jesus called his disciples to go and
"preach the kingdom of God" and to "take nothing for the journey". What do we really
need for our journey? Keep your focus on the Lord and He will surely provide all that is
needed for your journey.
How do I apply this to my life? Pray . . .
Dear Lord,
Thank you for equipping me to serve you for I know that whom you call you also equip.
Please help me to hear what it is you are calling me to do and help me to set
boundaries on my time that honor you. I want to hear your call, speak to me now Lord
your plan for my journey. I wait on your perfect timing and perfect will. In Jesus name,
Amen.
