PASTOR / MISSIONARY TRAINING SCHOOL
The Training Program is designed to develop your relationship
with the Lord, establish godly character and values in your life,
increase your basic Bible knowledge, and help you walk
victoriously in your service to the Lord.
The Training Program is open to those who feel God’s call on their
lives to serve Him by building the Kingdom of God. Singles,
couples and families are encouraged to apply. Requirements
include a high school diploma or equivalent and being at least 18
years of age. Successful completion of the Training Program is a
prerequisite for joining as a full-time missionary or staff member.
What We're All About
Dear High School Seniors and recent Graduates:
Where would you rather be?
Driving your dream car on your way home from a great job going
to a beautiful house -- while trying to avoid God; or
Yielding to the call to missions and being surrounded by the
peace that passes all understanding -- even if it means living a life
of sacrifice?
Cars and jobs and houses aren't evil, and God doesn't call everyone to be a
missionary in some far-off land, but He does call many. Maybe even you.
All we ask is that you seek the Lord. Learn from Him whether He wants you to
follow Him in missions. We believe He will make it clear to you. Then all you
have to do is obey. (You're right. That's not always easy, is it?)
It sounds crazy to a lost generation, but following God leads to peace. Seeking
personal, selfish pleasure is the most certain path to an unfulfilled, wasted life.
If God says to go, becoming an ESMI Student can help you go for greatness
and help prepare you to become a missionary.
Don't settle for safety, boredom and, if the call to follow the Lord is ignored,
regret.
Check out ESMI's Missionary Training Program because God
made you for a higher purpose than just to get a degree, a house
and a Honda.
The Training Program is designed to develop your relationship with the
Lord, establish godly character and values in your life, increase your
basic Bible knowledge, and help you walk victoriously in your service to
the Lord.

Dear Parents:
How do we advise our children?
The problem: The Current System Just Doesn't Work.
The current system of higher education is failing Christian students and
parents. Often, it transforms students in ways neither they nor their parents
would ever want. Bright students get lost in a secular system that turns them
into relativistic, materialistically-driven adults. Then it saddles them with a
mountain of debt that requires getting a good job to pay it all off. Rather than
reinforcing their faith, the current system calls into question everything that
parents have worked hard to instill in their children!
Considering these threats to faith, you'd think spiritual training during the
first year away from home would be normal. Instead, by following the "safe"
path of sending our children to college, we parents fail to safeguard them.
We entrust their minds and hearts to professors whose values are very
different from our own. They've abandoned God's command to "teach what
is in accord with sound doctrine." (Titus 2:1) Students are being tutored by
people who are in many ways dedicated to undermining their faith! Who
thought up that system, anyway? Perhaps when many colleges were
faith-based, it worked, but now the system is badly broken.
A Specific opportunity:
I am not saying, "Don't go to college." The world has grown complex, and
education is required just to cope. College can be a wonderful, formative
experience if your child's spiritual foundation is strong. But if you feel like
their spiritual roots are shallow or they don't know where God is calling them,
then they owe it to themselves to cement their walk with the Lord.
Participants tell me that the Missionary Training Program is the best
experience they've ever had. This experience -- a single year of intensive
discipleship -- allows high school graduates to find intimacy with their Lord
and purpose for their lives. God is the solid rock when all else fails.
Living in community with a small group of peers, they have the adventure of
their lives. Whether it's touching the poor, working with the homeless,
ministering to children or planting churches among displaced farm workers,
they'll develop their own ministry. They could reach out to addicts or
prostitutes in the worst section of Baja Mexico. Along the way, they will begin
to grasp God's call on their lives and experience the abundance that Jesus
talked about. They may find that their hearts break along the way, but our
experienced disciplers will be there to pour into them and help them grow
through it. Along with a team radically committed to Jesus, they'll find a
cause worth living or even dying for.
The Christian life is not "safe" or "comfortable," but then neither was Jesus.
The last commandment we were given by Jesus before he ascended to
heaven is found in Acts 1:8. "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit
comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea
and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." It's one of our God-given
responsibilities to give guidance to our children.
